Qatar Chronicles: Part IV, They Wanted It More

For the upcoming World Cup, some people have been suspicious about the fact that Qatar has been chosen to host it. According to David Roth, this has been decided just because Qatar wants it the most. In the small desert country, they don't have all the buildings and transportation required for supporting fans and players in the World Cup. But apart from the fact that Qatar is hosting the games, David believes they might win. He feels that it is planned, and not only was Qatar bidding to host the games, they were bidding towards a victory. He then talks about how they have enough money to outshine everyone else, as well as build all the buildings and transportation required. But, interestingly, he also mentions how around twenty percent of the population of Qatar is related to the royal family.
I feel that this could possibly be true. It's very unlikely, but it makes me feel suspicious about other things were people might buy their win. I also feel like Qatar might not be able to support everyone that comes for the games, even if they did build all the transit and went through with all the construction.
This article shows how much of a place politics plays in the society, and it's probably a lot more than we think. The Chief of State and Head of Government both had a role in the outcome of the bid for hosting the games, and maybe winning them as well.
